Running a Honda EU2200i onboard

I've been thinking about using a Honda EU2200i on my sailboat for occasional AC loads. I've heard it's okay if the generator stays on the vessel and not on the dock, but I want to make sure I'm in the clear both legally and from a safety standpoint. How do you secure a Honda EU2200i, vent fumes, and connect it safely?

A friend of mine has an EU2200i generator on his sailboat, and it works really well. He mounted it at the back on a tray, secured it down, and made sure the exhaust points away from everything. It's crucial to have a CO detector inside the cabin. For connecting it, he uses a marine shore-power adapter and makes sure to keep the loads under 1800 watts. It's a straightforward setup as long as you're mindful of the fumes and the wiring.
